Message From the Student Body President

Howdy Ags,

For several months you have probably seen Step In. Stand Up. messages around campus and at a variety of campus events and activities. Step In. Stand Up is a university-wide effort to put a stop to sexual violence on the Texas A&M campus and I sincerely hope that you will join me, your fellow Aggies, as well as faculty and staff in supporting this important campaign.

Step In. Stand Up. is a catalyst for us to have courageous conversations about sexual assault and sexual violence here on our campus. I echo President Young’s statement in the fall that one act of sexual violence at Texas A&M University is one too many.  We are a strong student body who finds identity in our Core Values: Aggies are respectful, Aggies selflessly serve, Aggies are loyal, Aggies display excellence, Aggies are leaders, and Aggies have integrity. And as Aggies, it is crucial that we embody these Core Values as we Step In and Stand Up against sexual assault on campus.

Some of these conversations may be challenging, yes, but they are incredibly crucial. We want to show survivors that we stand with them and ask that you do the same. When you Step In and Stand Up against sexual assault, you are joining your fellow Aggies in letting others know that these actions will not be tolerated on our campus.

Will you join us? I challenge each of you to Step In and Step Up against sexual assault on Texas A&M’s campus. Take the pledge today, and add your name to the multitude of other students, faculty and staff who are Stepping In and Standing Up against sexual assault.

Thank you all for doing your part to end sexual assault on campus.

Thanks and Gig ‘Em,

HANNAH WIMBERLEY
Student Body President, 2016-2017
